Abstract

Abstract: As a metabolic hormone insulinregulates an impressive spectrum of physiological processes. Hormones do not act only in a linear pathway. Hormonalpathways are interconnected by a complex network of interactions and feedbackcircuits that determines the final outcome of the individual hormone actions.Insulin resistance is controlled by many regulatory actions and this articlewill highlight the interaction of different hormones with insulin and how theprocess may be impaired in the insulin resistant state. These interactionseither potentiate or reduce the biological actions of insulin and, therefore,attenuate or induce insulin resistance.
